For God Sake, its just a pair of heels !!

  1. IMO, I think it is unfair to say that.

Firstly, heels imported from USA would be well known in the country itself. This applies to those from Korea as well. Residents in these countries would obviously know about these heels are due to the established branding in their home country.

Next, shipping cost ain't cheap. It can go up to RM1k just for shipping.

Not forgetting the exchange rate. Well, it isn't our fault that the MYR isn't as strong as the USD. Hence the pricing. Because if you convert them back to USD or AUD, it is cheaper than Vincci/Nose heels. Dollar to dollar wise.

Also, there are blogshops that allow trying on, no? Except for those pre-order ones. I believe measurements are provided and you could refer to the shoe chart.

So, long lasting, luxury & comfort vs short life span, cheap & not-so-comfy heels. Which one do you opt for?

I personally would opt for something that will stand out from the crowd. ;)

Beauty has a price to pay.

Hint : Do search around, they are some that are lesser than RM160.

  2. well, i posted this up as discussion. Feel free to give opinion.

    Quoted from above:
"Firstly, heels imported from USA would be well known in the country itself. This applies to those from Korea as well. Residents in these countries would obviously know about these heels are due to the established branding in their home country" <---What i do know is, MOST shoes imported from USA are made from China. So why bother spend rm160++ for a shoes that made in china and exported to US, labeled as (insert any US brand) plus you cant even try it? And, correct if im wrong; I noticed that overpriced shoes DOESNT have brand la.

    Quoted from above:
"Also, there are blogshops that allow trying on, no? Except for those pre-order ones. I believe measurements are provided and you could refer to the shoe chart. " <---Well, not all blogshop provide try on babe. And what if the buyer is not from the same state as the blogshop, how the hell she suppose to try the shoes??

    Quoted from above:
"So, long lasting, luxury & comfort vs short life span, cheap & not-so-comfy heels. Which one do you opt for? " <---i told u its selling online, how do you know its long lasting, comfort and such? d*mn, it depends la. rm50 heels could last long just like rm160 shoes if you know how to keep it well.

Oh, btw,for RM160, i can get 2-3 pairs shoes that really "stand out from the crowd".

Its you who STYLED the shoes. Not the SHOES styled u.

    Peace!! :) :)

  3. yup..if you want one of a kind heels..may I recommend Tangz (or was it just Tang?) at the 6th floor of Sungai Wang. Love their candy coloured shoes and quirky designs. :)

  4. I never buy those overpriced, no brand shoes which are claimed to be imported. Imported or not, I can very well buy my shoes in stores where I can try them on and they cost so much lesser. Just my opinion though.

  5. dont buy online lor. simple as that! :)

  6. I agree with author...heels nowadays are just simply overpriced...I cant believe rm160!! too much..i think quite sumtime ago heels were cheaper those imported heels wud costs me onliy rm 80-90 max...now its juz too expensive....wanda im sure author wont be purchasing those said heels on9 but nothing wrong in voicing out her opinion.

  7. i'm one of the sellers who sell shoes online and i've had really happy customers. not all of the shoes i sell cost RM160++ but the ones that are, are made in korea and we can guarantee the quality and comfort of the shoes. having returning customer buying shoes of the same prince range is a testament right?
i'm not sure why the author keeps harping about the brand issue. no brand does not necessarily means no quality and uncomfortable and vice versa. some just prefer online shopping rather than going to shopping malls, which i must say will turn like a pasar malam every weekend

    ReplyDelete
  8. I would never spend my hard-earned money on shoes which costs more than RM140, personally.

And the funny thing is that, I've bought shoes which costs less than RM100 and they were my favourite ones. The only time I bought a shoe for RM120 from a well-known blogshop, I was satisfied with it but it wasn't mindblowingly awesome so I really don't know how you can justify feeling like one of a kind or whatever *shrugs* Whatever floats your boat.

By the way, I've been comparing prices of shoes and sometimes, the SAME pair of shoes have a big difference of price for different blogshops. One would price it at an affordable range of RM50~RM60 and the other one would estimate it at RM110~RM160. These are the SAME PAIR OF SHOES, even the manufacturer's pictures are the same. Seriously, what is the reasoning behind this pricing? I understand that shipping costs and all that increases the cost, but the difference of around RM100 for the same pair of shoes? Anyone care to "justify" this?

    ReplyDelete
  9. yea.. i saw a blogshop selling all her shoes at RM160 when the very exact same pairs (exact same pics too) could be found in pre-order shops at prices hovering around RM50.

    Daylight robery, i tell you!

    ReplyDelete
  10. We can give death sentence to all the shop selling those shoes la. Some unethical ones will actually source from ciplak places/preorders then sell it as a really high price. But whereas some genuine sellers really did source from US and Korea. Even those wellknown authentic PG bags/shoes from Taiwan are actually not cheap when converted back. It could cost up to RM100 depending on designs(I know coz I bought from ori PG brand when I was in Taiwan) but like said, some of the people here do get supplies from fake knock offs, inspired and etc. Hence, hence the price difference.

This is a classic example case of different people has different opinions on what's worth and what's not. I personally own shoes from the cheap preorders and more expensive preorders. I do find that those authentic US preorder shoes are quite comfy. I have been ripped off by one of the 'preorder' charging really expensive prices for cheap knockoffs too and the quality is really -.-"

  11. i'd rather buy from charles and keith. really.

    ReplyDelete
  12. i was browsing through a new blogshop selling shoes which costs around RM160 per pair, and i thought the same thing. i'm pretty sure i saw the exact pair at another shoe blog selling for only rm70. i mean, i don't know exactly how comfortable the rm160 pair ones are, but they're still way pricey.

personally i would never buy shoes above rm150 unless i know for certain they are super comfortable & have excellent quality (say, scholl or clarks) and i usually wear them for travelling.

andd maybe a little extra for comfy flip-flops which i wear everyday -like my crocs & ipanemas!- i absolutely love them.

otherwise, my ballerina flats & fashion sandals i only buy them from vincci or charles & keith, because they're not the most comfortable shoes ever made, but they're alright - cheap & super cute.

so yeah, fancy heels @ rm160 are so not worth it, in my opinion. you only wear them for a few hours, most probably for dinner, where you won't even be doing that much walking.

  13. I jus simply dun understand y this kind of pos is up again ==' Is just a trade, buy it if u think is worth it, or jus ignore the blog :) All hi-branded shoes/bags/clothes mostly made in China/Indo n etc .. but there are still lots of ppl willing to spent few thousand k on it... coz 4 them they think d shoes is worth of d price.. Author.. I personally think that u r jus over acting on it :P

  14. i agree with anonymous at 3.08PM.

some people can spend RM400 on shoes from Aldo.
some people trusts online blogshops selling shoes for RM160.

let them be lah. you got no money your problem lah.

    ReplyDelete
  15. omg people, enough with "dont like dont buy" and "dont have money dont buy" lah. author is just ranting for god's sake. what if people say to u, dont agree with the post dont comment lah?

stupid right? everyone is entitled to say what they feel and why cant author let her feelings known? and anyway, she didnt even stop other people from buying it, she's just saying she hates it, she's not asking others to hate it as well.

i'm okay with people disagreeing with any posts in SMWDY, and i'm ok with people saying the "dont like dont buy" thingy but after reading it a million times from different anons at this and previous posts, it gets annoying. i mean, 3 people already said that, why keep repeating?

    ReplyDelete
  16. What now? If people disagree on prices we cant vent out here? Almost on all post i see people saying things along the lines of don't like then don't buy the item. And here, i don't notice the author saying she wants to buy it. I think she's just saying she thinks its too much for a pair of shoes.

Personally, i'm quite blessed that i'm able to shop at Aldo, Nine West etc, and i have friends who can't afford. They complain about the price saying its too expensive and such but i don't tell them "u don't have money u don't buy lah". I mean, how rude is that?

And i also have friends who buys a Chanel bag at least once in two months who still complain that shoes from Aldo is too expensive. So seriously, its a matter of what u think is worth it. Just cause author thinks its too expensive, don't slam her for it. Who knows she actually can afford it but just prefers not to?

  17. seriously brands are just stupid in malaysia la ok? like for cosmetics we buy here and constantly worship them (eg: maybelline loreal etc) but back in the states they are just drug store brands and worth no more than 2 dollar each mascara.

it's the same here with forever 21, nine west, topshop and everything else, they are all cheap brands in the states la. It's only here in malaysia we pay so much for tax, but we are so proud of it as if we bought a friggin chanel or dior.

so called branded here in malaysia are all faux-pride la (except for LV Coach and others lo). Just dun understand why make a fuss out of branding when a piece of cloth is just a piece of cloth that has thread holding them together. Branded or not, as long as it's comfortable and suits you, nothing else matters.

some people buy branded just because it's 'branded'. to show off lo, what else.

(yala yala im very poor and kenot afford branded la that's why im lashing out of rich ppl lo, okay? ;P ) btw, charles and keith is just a singaporean brand la. what so sipesial?

    ReplyDelete
  18. Yes, Guess, F21 and all are cheap in the States and Topshop, Rimmel, Primark all are cheap in UK. But what are u saying? Don't buy cos its supposedly cheap but in Malaysia its expensive?

    ReplyDelete
  19. first, i don't get the point why someone needs to point out something that has nothing to do with the post. let them be. they can comment anything and they have the right to voice out too. they're not referring to you anyways, right? so why bother :/

    back to this topic,

i have a friend doing pre-order for both US and korean shoes and i know almost everything from the minute she order it, all the charges she have to pay, the real price and til the items arrive. the price range is somewhat around that as well, RM100-RM160. shipping is not cheap. most buyers don't want to wait until a month or so for their goods to arrive. though good things come for those who wait but yeah, sometimes good things come for those who can't really wait too but in a way they have to pay extra, lol. and they keep complaining why is it so pricey. i actually pity sellers like her, cuz they can't get too much profit since the shoes itself is high-priced already.

but tell you what, its better to get them from the sellers other than you travel yourself to either US or korea, just for the sake to get the shoes. right?

first, i bought a topshop inspired heels from her just to try it. i've seen the original version of it from topshop, tried it on before, and walked in them before. the shoe is quite heavy and so uncomfortable when i walk in it. then only i found out that my friend actually sells the 'inspired' version of it. so i bought it. and when i got it and tried it on, it feels like heaven! because its damn comfortable. i don't know why. but i don't think its made up of cheap materials. its quite light compared to topshop's version but its damn comfortable! and yes with a fraction of its price. cuz its inspired right, lol. and guess what, the heel height is 12 cm and yet my feet doesn't even get eaten out! lol.

as i found out about these comfortable shoes, i keep buying over and over again from her and i don't mind paying more just for the sake of comfort! seriously. its not pricey because of the design, its pricey because of the comfort you get. you can differentiate if you put two inspired heels from chow kit (just an example) and any online shops that sells similar shoes, eventhough they look the same but it feels different when you wear it. and you can definitely know which one's from chow kit.

    LOL.

i bet you say this because you haven't try it before right? why don't you? perhaps if some of your friends bought such shoes before? just borrow them for five minutes just for the sake to walk in it, lol :)

    ReplyDelete
  20. May, you referring to who? The first part u're referring to who? And the one u ask to try the shoes referring to who?

    ReplyDelete
  21. its all about individual preference

there are true honest sellers who sourced items from US n & korea
and some who take korean/US pictures but sourced from china.

true US and korean heels some are taken from China as well, but its all but grade n quality control.

its customers preference to purchase whether they are expensive or not
who are we to judge right?

    ReplyDelete
  22. Honestly, I dont really mind some US or Korean import shoes that are over 150$. I feel that the quality is definitely worth it and you can even find similar designs in Aldo that is priced around half a grand?

As what May said is true, shipping alone can cost as much as the shoe it self, as i've tried ordering US online shoes before and it was hell for me to go through the trouble of transfering payment, tax, shipping, extra charges and stuff.

however, do look out for some blogshops that are overpriced and bring in cheap quality shoes that are definitely not worth it.

So far I only trust 1 online korean pre order shoes. Others are abit of a risk.

    to that Over-Emo die hard fan shoes;
You're right, im not a fanatic fan like you. So i will use that rm160 n buy 2-3 pairs of comfy n pretty shoes like 'Guitar Hero' said.

  28. anonymous 7.46 PM :

hello i'm just another reader who stumbled upon this post and feel interested to read the comments as I think this is a good topic to be discussed but clearly, at the end of the page i saw your comment.

i think what you said is just INAPPROPRIATE. after you read something, please do digest and try to understand it. it's a just a layman, voicing out her opinion as to what she thinks. if you want to leave your comment, go ahead, but there is no such need to look down at people.

fine you're a 'fan' or a 'shoelover' (note : self-proclaimed by the way) but you dont have to make assumptions saying other people wear 'cheap' things la alright. what if i assume you're just a self proclaimed fashionista who probably dress up trashy like sampah anyway? it's the same thing as what you just said to the author. (don't be offended, just an example to prove my point)

MY POINT IS,SENSIBLY share what we think if we feel like sharing our views. no need to tell other people their shoes are CHEAP. be more CIVILLISED can or not? *sigh*

and so far i only bought two flats online - one is abit tight, and another one is definitely worth it. so i'd say it's up to you, buying online is great (i like it) but then, it always come with a risk (sometimes the quality doesn't meet our expectation, the size won't fit, etc.) just be wise :)

ps : i do own few pairs of designer shoes - stuar weitzman, jimmy choo etc. (but not because i am rich or a fashionista, it's just that i used to live abroad, and we all know it is not that expensive there) but never did i go around telling people 'hello, your shoes are cheap, i'm sorry you can't afford that' one thing for sure, i don't do such thing as self-claiming that i am a 'shoe fashionista' or going around saying 'oh im sorry you can't afford the heels i'm wearing!' i mean, be abit classy lah =_= oh yess, i did claim that i own designer shoes, it is up to you to believe it or not =)

    ReplyDelete
  29. What in the world...? Wow Anon 7:46 PM, u're very harsh. Although the author states that she has money, what IF she really cant afford it, isn't it rude to just say people are poor? Its great that u can afford shoes but why the need to call others cheap and such? I don't mean to brag but now i feel like i have to. Every month without fail i'll spend around Rm2000 on shoes alone, and its normal for me to spend RM300+ for a pair of shoes so buying shoes online for Rm100+ is nothing.

But i have friends who cant even afford to spend that much on a few pairs. They say things to me like "its so expensive to buy just one pair of shoes for above RM100" but i don't tell them to shut up since they don't have the money. And some other half of my friends can actually afford to buy expensive shoes but they choose not to. They're crazy for shoes too and are "fans" as u call it.

So just because people don't have the same view as you, u shouldn't make assumptions and call them derogatory names. And just because they don't buy the same things as u it doesn't mean they're not "fans" and know nothing about shoes/fashion.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Omg Anonymous 10:52 PM! Exactly! I travel a lot and buy some of those shoes abroad as well as in Malaysia but i dont go around telling people i'm a "shoe fan" or a "fashionista". It could be possible that only now Anon 7:46 PM can afford to buy these shoes, which is why she has the need to belittle others. Oh, its ok for me to make assumptions right? Considering Anon 7:46 PM also did.

    ReplyDelete
  31. i SOO agree with the author- it's YOU who styled the (shoes/clothes), not the (shoes/clothes) styled u... ;)

i prefer to buy a RM39 cute smocked top from Jusco rather than buy a RM100++ t-shirt from Esprit...bcos..in the end, when i wear the Esprit shirt, come on, it's a t-shirt..ppl might even perceive it as a pasar malam T-shirt eventho i convince them so hard that it's from Esprit...

my point is, it's the style..not the brand.. ;p

  32. to ANON May 7, 2010 7:46PM :

wow, what's your problem? you sure are a know-it-all aren't you.

just because some people say rm160 for a pair of shoes online is too pricey, does not mean we can't afford them. we choose not to buy them because (i speak for myself) i would rather buy shoes at a retail store where i can try out my correct size, walk around in it, and exchange/refund if i change my mind.

comments like "if you think expensive don't buy la!" "no money don't like on9 shopping go to shop la!" are absolutely retarded. we're not stupid, it's expensive, we have a right to voice out our opinions, and obviously we know well enough not to buy it if we don't like it.

    i totally agree with ANON May 7, 2010 10:52pm

    ReplyDelete
  33. There is demand, that's why there is supply!

    ReplyDelete
  34. well basically i think the point in which the author is trying to point out is why certain blogshops mark up their prices so high when you can find in other pre order shops for like half price cheaper.

its funny how you can find other blogshops much much cheaper and all these new blogshops are going for so much higher.

    ANON May 7, 2010 7:46PM doesn't even knows what she's saying. a big LOL for her :)

    ReplyDelete
  35. fellas fellas.. no matter wat la the price of ur clothes/shoes if u noe how to style urself like a million dollar babe then wats with the price.. even buy pasar malam top with ur very own fashion attitude also u will look good..

RM160 is too much for a pair of shoes (being an avid shoe lover), i agree.. thats y i waited around and compare prices between blogshops that do this pre-order coz sometimes the shoe's design are super nice, hard to find design2 also..

    ReplyDelete
  36. I hv tried both exp & cheaper preorders from famous blogshops. They do have a difference. Not sure abt other new/less famous ones. But i believe some(excluding those purposely marking up high) tat are charging more expensive bcoz of d better quality/comfort...and whether or not an item be it shoes/dress/tops/etc is exp or not, it's very subjective.

OT: Regarding of d brands, some of d blogshop shoes sellers could put their label on after they get it depending on whether they want onot bcoz it's not a really hard procedure to do.

    ReplyDelete
  37. To ANON 7:46PM : Never write in anger. You'll just sound dumb with your baseless thoughts.

Agree to what Anon 11:29 PM mentioned. Buyers aren't stupid..so never insult our intelligence. Not buying expensive shoes online does not mean that we can't afford it. So please la sellers, stop with the 'no money then don't shop online la'. At the end of the day you will still need buyers for business.

Hear this out..RM50 above for a top is expensive.RM50 for a dres is alrite. RM50 for short pants is expensive. RM160 for shoes is very expensive. If you want business then lower the prices. I'm not asking sellers to mark as low as RM20 but anything above the prices mentioned above is just too much.

Again, RM49 for a top is not cheap ok. Everyone knows that it's a marketing strategy. Like I said, we're not stupid.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Hey there, I've actually got a friend who does this online business, also selling imported heels from Korea and the states and let me tell you, I salute her for it. Basically, from the moment she started taking orders to actually ordering from the site to arranging shipping and to getting the goods from the custom, she had to jump through thousands of hoops just to get the heels.

The shipping quotations were killer and when the goods arrived, she had to pay extra for import tax and everything, making several trips to the Pos Malaysia HQ at KLIA to collect them.

I was lucky enough to purchase a pair of amzeballs heels from her at cost price(we're childhood friends) but let me tell you, the price ain't that much lower either. The time, effort and patience required, not to mention the petrol spent, plus the shipping, the cost price is actually really high!

I never did regret buying those heels from her though. They're comfy, sexy, sturdy(1 year and still alive) and omg did I mention comfy? Personally, I think that 100+ is a very good price for heels of that excellent quality, don't you think so? (:

I mean I spend RM 50 on heels from Vincci and they give way in like 3 months? These so called "brandless" heels are actually of higher quality than those branded ones many others speak so highly of!

And I agree with anon #1, My heels do stand out in the crowd. You have no idea how many people have asked me where I got them from. ;)

ps: I think you meant to say "It's you who STYLE the shoes", not STYLED. You're supposed to use present tense, cause by using 'styled', you mean that you use to style the shoe, but not anymore. I'm just saying. :D

  39. i'm agree with Alexis, it is not easy to run an online business with all the long tiring procedure and effort. I think it is worth for RM160 to own a shoes which is good quality and comfortable but no brand. It is all depends on customer what they prefer (either cheaper price or better quality).Except for those seller who sell "copycat version" with cheap material but mark up to RM160 then it is not worth. But of course there is a risk whereby the buyer will get the good quality one or the cheap meterial one with same price because no one knows unless your friend bought it before or someone inform you that blog can be trusted. Good Luck :)

  40. Thanks for the feedback on how you guys price up the overseas shoes. Like anon May 8, 2010 11:39 PM was saying, it's hard to really tell which are the ones who mark up the prices with the copycat version with the ones who mark up the prices due to good material. Sigh.

Until then, I won't be spending such an exorbitant amount for shoes. I'd rather spend it on real Louboutins, although that would be in the far, far future where a couple thousand dollars spent on one pair of shoes won't break my bank :P Till then, I have other responsibilities to take care of.

  41. ok,for those who found some 160+ shoes at a blogshop, then found the same exact shoes at another blogshop for rm50.let me tell you,its not the same.the 160+ shoes are from korea.and yes,it is also made in china, but the quality is higher than those rm50 ones.the rm50 one are imitations of the korea.thats why its cheap.

BUT,to be honest,i have bought the rm50 heels, which is uber gorgeous, looks exactly like the real one (well, not really,it doesnt have a blue sole like the real one,but thats a such tiny difference >.<) and its worth every penny.and the quality is great! though i have only bought one, hence,i cant really say if its the same with all of the other rm50 shoes.

and i dont really think rm160+ shoes are that expensive, considering the style of the shoes.here in malaysia, its pretty hard to find a high uber gorgeous shoes unless you go to Aldo, miu miu and all that "only datins can afford" shop. the shoes will cost like 300+++

but for cheaper one,the choice are charles & keith or f21 and vincci +.which are also 100++..but sometimes nose have uber gorge ones also la.like 80+

what i meant by uber gorgeous here is high (4 inch n plus),cute, looks expensive, head turner shoes..

  43. to anon 7:46 pm,

i dun noe y but u rlly sound dumb lashing out on ppl like that. originally this post was jz about a buyer stating her disagreement on an overpriced item..after all, dis is what the blog is all about. i too feel that it is jz inappropriate to assume ppl's budget or economic status etc. but after reading ur post, hell, i think that u too deserve people's piece of mind.

1st of all, i do agree with the author that spending RM160++ for something that are not physically infront of u to feel, test or even check (for any damage)is jz too much. back in the early days, blogshops are the alternative 'shopping place' where we can get cute clothes, shoes, etc for cheaper price compared to shops in shopping malls ( bcz of rental, maintenance fee etc). but when a blogshop is selling shoes that cant even be tried on, checked etc, for RM160++ , u haf to b smart enough to decide whether is it a smart move to buy em'? in my opinion, the author is jz a person who values money and spend them on those which she thinks worth her money. but when i read anon 7:46 pm 's post, i think she is just a self-proclaimed fashionista/shoe lover/shoe fan who thinks she knows it all (she might also be someone who likes to brag, bt in reality doesnt rlly have it all). im sorry im trying not to b bias here, but anon 7:46pm is jz too much. labeling ppl and saying they cant afford it? c'mon,u sound like a dumb, spoiled bi*ch. yes, i did say earlier that its inappropriate to assume on ppl, but hell,i think ppl like anon 7:46pm deserves it.

it is all up to the buyer to either spend their money on expensive items or much lower priced items, but u dun get to label ppl saying that they cant afford expensive stuff. thats jz plain rude n dumb!

all in all, ppl's opinions defer from one another. some ppl think that they dont mind spending on things on9 even when they know the risks (not being able to try, check etc) whereas some ppl think that they need to see the item that they're gonna pay for. but jz bcz a person expresses her disagreement on an item that she thinks MIGHT be overpriced, doesnt mean that u can straight away label them like what anon 7:46pm did. TRY TO BE REASONABLE WHEN EXPRESSING UR OPINION.

p/s: YOU ARE WHAT U WRITE. in a way, what u wrote somehow portrays who u are .
